I've grown or tried them all:

Red grapefruit - too late and don't sweeten up well

Duncan - tastes like all the white grapefruit but doesn't get that legendary flavor that they do in Florida

Bloomsweet - tastes like all the white grapefruit

Golden - this has got to be the best one to grow in the Houston area. It gets sweet way before any other grapefruit and is very mild tasting. Everyone likes this one

Cocktail - very nice flavor without the grapefruit bitterness. I wish I had kept the large tree I grew out years ago but for me it is the one that got away. I rate it as good as the golden for the Houston area.

Phil-have you tried Henderson for your red grapefruit? For me it's my go-to red for the Houston area.
