Many roses can be grafted to a cutting and then the cutting rooted at the same time. The name for this process is stenting. In this process the rootstock cutting is cut and the desired cultivar is grafted onto it. The cutting is then potted up in the normal rooting process manner. The graft is wrapped to keep it dry as normal also.

If this is possible it might open up a better way for some of us to obtain the citrus we desire with an acceptable rootstock.

Below is a link that better explains what I am trying to ask.

Andy, I have done a successful stent graft, mostly as an experiment. It has been a few years, but I believe I used Swingle as the rootstock and Satsuma as the scion. At the time I tried it two ways. I removed the rootstock to be rooted, from a plant that was slipping, and budded it after seperation. I also budded a few while the rootstock was still on the mother plant, and rooted the budded stock after the bud took (this might be considered cheating). I know I had some success, but I am not sure how much. In most cases, it is a lot better to simply bud a seedling.
