I would like a lotus to put in my pond if someone has cutting to trade..

Something that would be hardy to zone 6..

Hi Gina,
Once duck hunting season starts I will probably be going over to Mobile Delta.-- There are usually lots of pods along the river if you would like some seeds-- I'll be glad to send them.

Thanks for the offer Skeeter.. My mom brought me a couple of seed pods she collected over the week end.. I found this great page on how to grow them from seed..

http://www.pondplants.biz/Seeds.html

The two links at the bottom of the page are great as well..

I have taken a file to the seeds and then placed them in my indoor fish tank for close supervision.. a fun project for my daughter and me.. She helped file a couple of them.. they have very tough shells..

I had some seeds I tried planting in my pond before but I did not know they needed to have the shell scratched.. I was looking in my pond earlier today and found a couple of the seeds amongst the rocks at the bottom.. they never germinated..

Will have to wait a few days to find out if the scratching thing worked..

I have a bunch of seeds.. I probably should have started this project months ago.. but I have plenty of seeds and will do it again in the spring if need be.. or maybe late winter.. get a good jump on the season..

Thanks again for the offer Skeeter..

Skeeter, I did not get your pm... Confused Try again ok? I think it would be cool to have different varieties..

Here are a couple of the sprouting seeds I have going right now.. Most of the pics I took fish swam in the way and the pics were blurry..

after waiting months for the other seeds to sprout that never did I am amazed at how quick these started.. guess it proves that proper instructions on how to do something IS IMPORTANT!!!
