My over 4 inch diameter ponderosa is ready for picking. I have it in my back garden & it stands out like a sore thumb.

Any suggestions on what to do with it other than eating it out of hand? I know they make great lemonade, but I only have one. I love lemons on fish & everything but I like the more tart lemons for that. It's my first fresh pon. lemon (I'm so proud!) and many babies to come. Just gotta show it off I guess!

Thanks you two. Citrus Joe sent me a ponderosa last yr & I remember the flavor was sweeter than a reg. lemon. I planted those seeds & they are 6-8 inches tall now.
I think I'll try a little lemonade, wrap a nice fish in foil - on the grill & douse it with the juice and maybe french fried eggplant strips (dipped in flour - size of big fr. fries)...so GOOD with salt & a ton of lemon juice. Or, I can do lemon chicken....yum. I won't waste a drop. Of course, gotta eat one slice just plain too. If you want seeds, let me know.

Valencia, I never saw pond. lemons in a store.
Buddinman, I make great lemon merangue pies! I think I'll do that when weather cools off. Love to bake in winter (maybe I'll send you one)!
I picked the lemon today & took a thick slice off the top to eat it. A little more tart than the one Joe sent me so maybe it shoulda stayed on tree longer to sweeten?? But it was GOOOOD....I have a slice in my ice water right now. The pith sure is thick -- are they all like that?

That is a beauty!!!! You are my inspiration Patty, being in relatively the same section of the country! I have been able to harvest a couple of my limequats and there is nothing better than citrus from the tree you have grown yourself! I am having so much fun with this hobby and you all have been so helpful, I have learned much!

Hi Joan, you are an inspiration to me also!! It's hard growing citrus way up here LOL, but you are ahead of me in limequats. I almost lost mine earlier this yr & it now has new branches. I never did grow a ripe citrus yet except for this lemon. I cheated though,..bought the tree with the lemon almost full grown LOL. But, I have more P.lemons (one is golfball size) & many other baby citrus & hoping to pick them when they get ripe.
