1 kilojoules = 0.94781712 BTU

Assume that candles are basically very similar substances as beeswax and paraffin, the heating value of which is 41.5 kJ/g

Converting to BTU/lb of candle: = 41.5 kJ/g * 0.94781712 BTU/kJ *454 g/lb = 17,857.8224 BTU/lb of candle.

So all you need to do is find the weight of candle and they come in various sizes and shape, I leave that portion to you to find out.

formulas and conversions were all done with google search bar.

To convert let us say from gallons to liter, type gallons to liter in the search bar and the answer is your conversion factor.

to find the answer to 3.1415926536*(12+5/12)+9/6, simply type it in the search bar and press enter.

Thanks Joe. So I could weight a candle in my lab on the gram scale, then burn the candle for one hour, and subtract the weight of the candle after it burned for one hour from the orginal weight, then multiply the answer by 17,858 BTU/lb. to obtain the BTU's per hour and or minute . Thank you for the information. - Millet
