I know I've seen it here somewhere and probably am not describing it very well, but the person doing it was making the usual t-incision and inserting a small scion with the end cut as for a bark graft. Now I can't locate it Sad

I've tried what I remembered myself and seem to have one "take". I'm looking for "non-destructive" methods for replacing a cordon on a citrus espalier so that if the method fails I don't lose the entire cordon. I should have t-budded on the vertical trunk as it approached the next wire (remembered this time on another tree!) but didn't and this conversion is an afterthought anyway.

So....anyone remember that post or recognize the description?[/i]

No, but thanks for looking around. The difference is that this technique places a scion into a t-slit along an existing limb, just like you would place a bud. Wish I had thought to bookmark that posting!

Nope, that's not it. It was buried in a long thread and someone just said, "well, here's something I've done that's a little different and it works for me". There was one picture, I think.

It is very like the bark grafting but not at the end of a cut-off limb, rather along the length of an existing branch.

I tried this with one of a cluster of branches growing off an orange cordon and it seems to be growing, i.e., is still green and at least one bud on the scion is starting to push out. A second graft directly on the cordon failed, but that was difficult to do as I was trying for the underside, hoping to generate a shoot to replace the original cordon. I'll need to try again.

Yeah, I guess it's a pretty obscure thing. I've only ever seen it here--somewhere!

The obvious thing to do is take a picture myself of my next try Very Happy
