I had a great time at the Expo 2005. Im new at this and I have a question. I saw several citrus that I hadnt heard of and most of the citrus that I saw, Ive never tasted. Could I buy some of these citrus even if its 1 or 2 so I would know how they taste?
Has anything been arranged for this. Like having a standard 1 lb of fruit or 3 fruits of for a set price.
It could be a nice feature on the site. Most of the citrus tht I have bought is for how it looks and how people say it tastes. I may want to buy some citrus because I like how it tastes.

Good point...I agree! Among other fruits that I tried for the first time were Hong Kong and Procimequat. Based on that taste test, I'll stick with Satsuma's but it was interesting to try something totally new. |

This is a good subject. Problem is finding people who are willing to ship their fruit. Then again, most of the "good" tasting citrus is available. The cold hardy citrus is at best mostly ornamental. Almost anything crossed with trifoliata is going to have a unpleasant aftertaste. I tried quite a few varieties at the expo that I never tried before. Just about every one had an unpleasant lingering aftertaste to it... |

Lazz, you don't consider satsumas cold hardy or is it you do not think they taste good? It seems that around here they will survive at least upper teens without protection--I consider that cold hardy. _________________ Skeet

Hey Skeeter. Satsumas are both cold hardy & good tasting, but are available in the stores as I stated above. This post is going on 5 years old. I believe what we were talking about were the real cold hardy citrus all crossed with Trifoliata or Ichang. _________________ Wal-Mart a great place to buy cheap plastic crap ! http://walmartwatch.com/ ...

I would assume there'd be no (zero) crossing of taste with grafted/budded citrus? All top growth would be as the type ... yes?
Cheers, Barrie. |
