Hello everyone,
I want to buy some seeds of Poncirus trifoliata, but I do not know where can I get good and fresh seeds? I found some on ebay (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Poncirus-trifoliata-HARDY-TRIFOLIATE-ORANGE-Tree-25-SEEDS-RARE-/350779779779?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item51ac1aaac3#shId), but I am not sure does they will grow? What do you think about it? Maybe you have better proposition for me? I can buy some seeds in this price from you.
Offcourse I can buy Poncirus trifoliata hybrids like Citrange, Citrumelo, and others.
Greetings, from Poland! _________________

The time for poncirus seeds is november and you can find poncirus trees in Polland. Ask the local citrus lovers. |

Unfortunatly it is more dificult than you think. I am logged on the biggest polish forum for citrus growers (offcourse grown in container), and there are no one who have Poncirus trifoliata that it is blooms and gives fruits. In our climate this citrus can grow in ground, but it is not very popular in our gardens. The biggest one (~3m) as I know is growing in Botanical Garden in Wroclaw. If only someone have Poncirus trifoliata seeds he uses them for his or his friends. Seeds that I can buy in Poland are mostly imported, the price is high and the quality of this is awful. Besides we even have not got Poncirus trifoliata hybrids... Citrus trees in Poland are only a few years in higher sales and is probably the cause of everything.
So maybe I will buy some fruits from someone of you? Does anyone was sending fruits to Europe? Is it expensive or cheap? _________________

Hello Radek18,
I cannot send you seeds at the moment but I have several hundred seedlings at the moment from the fruits that I gathered last harvest. If you are interested in some of them please let me know.
Greetings,
Till (Germany) |

OK, thank you guys! You are awsome! I'm looking forward to get seeds. I will write you a PM in due time and we will determine the total cost.
Laaz, I do really agree with you! Here I can feel as like in a big family. _________________

For me there is no "total cost". When you have to pay, a gift isn't a gift anymore. |

Oh, thank you. But I guess to pay for the shipping, otherwise it will be not fair... _________________

Most seed sellers keep their seeds in dry conditions at room temperature. Completely wrong for citrus (and poncirus) seeds which will very rapidly lose viability in these conditions. So, unless you buy from someone who is a citrus specialist, or knows how to keep citrus seeds, chances are they will never germinate.
Much better to collect your own seeds or accept the offers from forum members!
Before the days of the internet, I bought poncirus seeds from several suppliers but they never germinated. It took me many years to locate a fruiting Poncirus trifoliata in England. Ever since I've had plenty of rootstocks. |
