Joe, very nice place. I grow 103 grape vines of various types, and have NEVER achieved grape clusters even 1/2 the size of the variety that you pictured. What variety is that grape? Your landscpe is well kept up, a nice looking place. Your the kind of a guy that people want as their neighbor. - Millet

Thanks Millet! I have tiny yard, as much as I wanted to do more grapes, simply can't be done. Will be planning to graft Jupiter grapes next season, I've heard they're great tasting for table grapes. What you see are two grafted grapes, one of them is the fantasy seedless which grows really big, and the other one is Thompson Seedless, all table grapes and not or wine making. I have to kill off my productive Cabernet this year as they are planted in the room addition area. Crying or Very sad

With the crazy amount of grape blooms and set this year, there would be free grapes for the picking at Napa Valley. When the growers cannot process their grapes anymore, they invite people to harvest grapes for free, and that's where most of my grape wines come from. Razz

Hi Joe. Pindo Butia capitata is a very common palm here. If you would like more seed let me know, my Pindo is just about to split its fruit pods open.

Sure Laaz, will try to grow them here. Send me instructions on how to germinate them. Thanks.

Joe: Those pictures look so delicious. And the grapes. Wow! Is that availavle in the store?
You sure have a lot of rare ones.

Thanks Benny! Those are ordinary grapes. One is fantasy seedless and the other is thomson seedless but grafted together. Next year I will try to graft some Jupiter grapes, big sized very tasty grapes that are not found in the stores or nursery outlets. Have arranged somebody for an exchange this coming winter.

update on palm:

Sorry Joe, the fruits are not edible and I had it cut not too long ago because it was on the way for my boat to park beside the house. The city already fined me $100 for parking the boat on the driveway. They said the next time will be $500 .

Joe see if I can send you a Pindo palm plant. I have a few seedlings that are getting the Pinnate leaves.

Joe,

You have an extremely beautiful place there and fantastic looking fruit.

A couple of other RARE and ostensibly extra hardy Butia palms are Butia capitata var. 'Bonnetti' and Butia capitata sp. odorata.

I have a nice 3 gallon size Bonnetti that I'm going to put in the ground next spring. Some folks in the Mid-Atlantic and PNW have had good luck with it.

Butia eriospatha is also very hardy (maybe the most hardy Butia) but becomes quite large-

The Canary Island Date Palms are the large palms that are planted up and down the center medium of "The Strip" in Las Vegas, Nevada. I have one in my greenhouse planted in a whiskey barrel, which I've had for a couple years and is alreaky 5 feet wide and 5 feet tall. Actually, the leaves are rather prickly when you back into them. - Millet
