We finally got a good rain-- 4 to 5 inches! We got more rain this morning than we got for any month since May. Most of the rain in the area this summer was very spotty and we just kept getting missed. We are over 20 inches below normal.

We've had constant rain & cold (60's) since last Fri eve. Some parts were flooded. This is the first day of sun in a long time. I think it's all moving east now.

Patty
Rain and in the sixties sounds like our November/December weather down here in south Louisiana. I have visited Waukesha Wisconsin in the winter and although I like cold weather, I was relieved to return to a little more comfortable climate.
How do you keep your citrus warm during those long winters? Do you have a green house? With the price of heating oil these days, it must be very expensive to heat a green house that far north.

Hi Karl, no I could never afford a greenhouse. I built a 16 X18' sunroom addition back of my house. No heat or AC in there. It's very well insulated & 2 skylights & big windows facing south. When I need more heat, I open the french doors a little (from kitchen) & let heat from house in there. I think the coldest in there was upper 40's, & then I crack the door open. Now, Millet & Citrus Joe (joenco) are in same zone -5 in Co. & they heat huge greenhouses that they have. Look at the thread somewhere at bottom about "greenhouses" - they have pics.
Waukesha is only few miles west of me...if you ever go there again, give me a holler. You gotta see the Domes here! 3 HUGE glass domed greenhouses.
