I checked the seeds citrus boy mailed me a few weeks ago and found one sprouting. Here is what the fruit will look like I hope. I'll graft a bud next year on my mature grapefruit tree to get fruit earlier.

The February issue of CRFG's magazine "Fruit Gardener" has this to say about the Valentine Hybrid Grapefruit. ..."Drs. Robert Soost and James Cameron, citrus breeders at UCR came up with Valentine Grapefruit Hybrid as a result of their work on Oroblanco and Melogold. Nicknamed "Valentine" because it matures in mid-February. Valentine is a cross between Siamese Sweet pummelo X (Dancy mandarin X Ruby blood orange). Valentine combines large size and low acidity from it pummelo parent, complex, floral taste from the Dancy, and juicy red pulp from the ruby. The UCR citrus variety collection, has a half dozen trees in trials, and hopefully before too long it will be available as a home garden variety. Dr. Mikeal Roose said, "We don't have a firm plan, but we will probably release it in a couple years, as an unpatented variety.
