I planted this tree about a month ago. It was doing well in the first 2 weeks. In the past 3 weeks, the leaves started to curl.

I live in So. CA and it has been very hot in the past several weeks - 80+ most of the time. I water it just like the other citrus trees that I have - once a week or longer. I also have clay soil. I don't know if I over water, under water or it is too hot. I need some help. Thanks!

Your tree looks to be quite dry. A young tree just put into the ground has not yet developed a root system that extends into the surrounding soil, therefore a new tree has a very limited amount of space from which to find moisture. Even in Florida, which has a high average annual rainfall of 50-62 inches, it is still recommended to water newly planted citrus trees twice a week. - Millet

Hi Mrtexas,

It is a drawf cara cara tree and the wall you see is the my backyard wall that separate my neighbor yard. I think it will be OK.

Anyway, I am thinking about taking it out and put in a pot. I need the space for another plant. I have been reading about drawf orange tree and want to try it out.

Dittos what Millet said. Remember that tree was getting water every day before you bought it. Now it's sitting in a huge clay pot (your native soil) so don't over water and "fill the pot" because water will not drain away from it. But I think you will need to water more than once a week, probably every 2 or 3 days, just a little, for a couple of months, until it has enough time to get roots growing out into the surrounding soil. They start cutting back frequency little at a time, after the weather cools.
