My experience with native persimmon here in Arkansas that you can graft asian persimmon to it also quite easily. For me it is the best rootstock to use, because the native persimmon here come out of dormancy quite late, allmost the last one in my neck of the woods.Therefor it is less affective by late sping frost. All my bought asian persimmon have died due to late frost. The ones grafted on native ones are doing good.
