Just out of curiousity, what are the benefits of using an inverted T Bud over a regular T Bud? I've always done inverted T Buds, but don't really have a reason other than that's what I've always done.

I believe inverted buds are supposed to be"best" in rainy locations. - Millet 85

Inverted T is supposed to keep the rain off the graft. But if you wrap your grafts snug (or if you use parafilm which is said to be waterproof), it makes no difference in these two.

Does not make any difference. Use the one you are most comfortable with. I use both and get excellent takes. Chip budding tape is my preference.

Thanks 'all. We don't have a lot of rain here, but using an inverted T has become habit. There are some areas though where it might be easier to insert a bud from the top than from below so in those cases, I'll give regular T budding a try.

Phillip, your daughter must have grown quite a bit since the picture shown in your Avatqr as you have been a member since 2006. - Millet 83

Not only has she grown, but I have 3 more children that I didn't have when that picture was taken. Our latest was born 3 months ago. I'll need to get a picture with all of them in it, but I'm not sure it would fit. Smile

To me it is easier to push a bud down than up. Force of habit as well.

I like inverted only because I seem to cut the budwood in a way that is better suited for an inverted. I usually cut from the bottom side of the bud and shave forward.

If your budding in ground on young seedlings ,probably easier to use the standard T method- if your doing container stock on an elevated bench , inverted is probably easier ,lot of it depends on your method of insertion-
