Hello & Happy Friday Everyone!
I have my persian lime tree indoors now under lights. I have a nice flush of buds getting ready to open. Are they self-polinating like the meyer lemons or do I need to help them along? Thanks, Stephanie

Pollination is immaterial to Persian (aka Bearss) limes because they are parthenocarpic. This means that it will form fruits even if the flowers are not pollinated. Any imbalance in the stigma chemicals can be induced by mere presence of chemicals from pollens or from other stigma of other flowers and is enough to set fruits without the ovules getting fertilized. Of course the tree has to decide how much load it will finally carry. Thus even if the fruits are formed, vast majority of Bearss lime fruits are seedless.

Joe, is correct that the Persian Lime (Tahiti, Bearss) does not require pollination. However, in a paper published by Dr. Alfred Krezdorn he sites Persian Lime is one of the citrus fruits that gains some additional crop load benefits when the trees were pollinated by bees, or in your case hand pollination. I really don't know if the additional crop load benefit would be enough to justify all the extra time and work. It's up to you. - Millet

Thanks to both of you for the quick and informative posts. I think I'll wait and see what happens this time if I don't "help"; then I'll know for the future.
