Krapes, awesome post. Thank you for sharing this with the forum. I really enjoy historical information of this type. When any of our members come across information of this nature please post it. Krapes, by the way my seedling of Saint Dominic's citrus tree is now six inches tall. - Millet

I really enjoyed it ..

My thoughts are this tree hasnt been messed with by human hands ( turned into a new tree) its old stock tree . are there any more of the older King Gravenstien Apples left in the world ? i been looking they have kings but not the king Gravenstien I used to eat as a kid . reasons the king G had huge Apples I mean 2 made a pie NO joke but crop Production sales and The fact some fruit would be so heavy it would Rip the limbs they where on so . We crossed it cultured it what ever into the littler 1 lb fruit we get today. the fruit isnt as tangy Not bitter but Tangy as the King G ..

My heart has broken since we had to take down what was probably the Last King G around a 8 tree Orcharg My great grand Ma planted . she passed when i was 17 at 122 yrs old . i tried in vain to get cuttings took some rooted Limbs at no avail.

So now im looking for a king G and cannot find one anywhere. I love this story its Great proper and Awesome and seems to be Disease resistant as well .i know they where not as old as this tree . but i think of what we have lost and at the same time what we have gained . Westwood

Tammy,
There are several online nurseries that carry the Gravenstein apple.
Here are a few that I found on a quick search.

The above nursery says they don't ship but will help you contact one in your area. You might even be able to make arrangments and they might be able to ship to you.

This one has scion wood availaible for grafting of the trees they have. The Gravenstein apple is listed as one they have.

HI Andi, the apple im looking for is about 2lbs and up.

Great grandma called it a king Gravenstein.

I do not know if that is the correct name we may have 1 limb still alive on our granvenstien tree we transplanted / Grafted about 15 yrs ago Looks to be greening up this yr again last yr no apples.

its identical in flavor and only took 2 apples to make a 9 inch pie with home maid crust. i checked out a site trying to find Old forgotten or lost apples and found one Simalar. 30 bucks for a stick so i bought 3 if it is the correct one Money well spent. if Not then ill have a old Variety and keep looking.

i was hoping since there are alot of you a couple yrs Older then me would know what it was or if they where indeed king gravenstien . I have banana Tasting apples and Apple tasting bananas LOL . its so cool .

Checking out the links as well as i love apples MY dream is to raise everything i eat from meat to fruits no chemicals. even my pets get organic rabbit meat chicken turkey and Ive been praying for alot of people to learn how to make there own pet food . some times i make them a potpie mix .Tammy
