Does anyone have any experience with and opinions of Citrus Varieties of the World, by James Saunt? Having heard that it is geared towards a citrus-industry audience, I am wondering if there is enough content of interest or use to someone primarily interested in cold-hardy and non-commercial citrus to warrant the $60 price tag. Unfortunately, non of the libraries around have a copy for me to preview.
Thanks,
ES

Good book. Lists a lot of varieties not available in the US. Printed in England.

I have the book "Citrus Varieties of The World" in my library, it has lots of pretty pictures of commercial citrus varieties. Besides the pretty pictures, the book is not of much value to me. No cold hardy varieties listed except Poncirus.. The best cold hardy book is "Hardy Citrus For The Southeast" authored by Tom McClendon . You can purchase the book for $7.00 at http://www.sepalms.org/index.php?/store/category/3-books/

I would rate C V of the World some where between you two, good pictures, good text( even 2nd edition probably getting out of date now, due to newer varieties). It only really discusses commercial varieties, including some rootstocks, and Yuzu etc, but none of the rarer, obscure types and species.
Probably only hobbyist websites can cover that topic.

I have the book also. I haven't got much to add here, except that everything in it and more can be found on the web at the well known web sites like UCR and Citrus Pages. I wouldn't bother buying it...
