The research facility at Merbein, Victoria where the bloodlime and sunrise lime were developed has been scaled back, and is set to close later this year.
After many years of drought and reduced irrigation allocations for the areas farmers, the loss of major local research activities seems an extra blow.

Anybody wanting a virtual tour can try google street view at 1085 Sturt Hwy Merbein South, look north along the roadside for a peek at the arboretum ( while its still there ??? )

That is a real shame.
I think it was some time in the early 1990's that I first contacted Stuart Sykes of Merbein to ask about Microcitrus and Eremocitrus. He sent me seeds which really started my interest in the Australian native citrus species.
I have been considering a retirement present to myself of a trip to Australia, and a visit to Merbein was high on my list.
