Patty are you sure you want a Ice cream Banana ? I was talking to Millet last night on the phone. Do you realize they will get over 20 ft tall ? My two main plants are over 20 ft right now.

You're scaring me!! I read that they get 12 to 15 ft tall. Do you think they will be shorter if grown in pot? My sunroom has 13 ft ceiling so I thought it would be OK ther for winter & out in summer. Can they be cut back at all?
I saw the pic you posted of a banana next to your house --that was the ice cream huh? Let me know what you think...I'll let you decide.
(thought you forgot about me Embarassed )

Hi Laaz, glad you had a nice vacation.
Do you think it's a bad idea for me to have banana tree? Will it still get that tall even in a pot? If you're sure it will get more than 13 ft, then I guess I should say no Crying or Very sad

When talking about banana height, it is always the height of the pseudostem (or trunk) that will be implied. For example, I would say that my California Gold is only 5 ft tall, and is classified as dwarf, but in fact it is 12 ft tall because the topmost leaf is 7 ft long.

So, what is your opinion Joe? Your tree is planted inground I'm sure. Do you think a pot would contain the size? Wasn't it you that advised someone on trimming or cutting back a banana tree?

Yes. the pot should be wide not tall. Bananas remain shorter when potted. Make sure to leave only one daughter pup when potted.
