I've been perpetuating a lemon rootstock that I obtained from a sucker on a Kaffir Lime from Four Winds. I'm not sure what they use there, but it roots reliably, albeit slowly, about 50% of the time, despite tremendous neglect. However, I have some seedlings from the seeds Toots distributed at the CRFG workshop in May 07, and I wonder if I can divide the ones that are polyembryonic, and if so, what time of year is best. I also planted some wild trifoliate citrus from Texas and some sour orange seeds. The former have not sprouted and the latter sprouted well. I'm not sure how useful they are. Any guidance is appreciated. Keith Barton, Oakland, CA

I think it is better to divide them when they get the first true leaves-- before the roots get tangled.
