It works quite nicely.

My $0.50 rooting chamber:

Made from translucent plastic container from garage sale and saran wrap. Inside are cuttings of blueberries, pomegranates, figs, mullberries.

Look at how the fig roots love the near 100% RH inside. I checked the grapes, pomegranates, and blueberries, the end cuts are all calloused and have roots already. Considering that the pomegranates are so hyped nowadays, each one costing $29, my setup is a complete miser. Styrofoam cups would be the most expensive component, at about $0.89 for all of them. The super soil potting media, maybe a total of $0.75 worth of potting soil for all the cuttings.

Simple always seems to win out most of the time. I had a similar setup I used for mail order, bare root plants I received. I already had one of those little 4-tier greenhouse setups. I put an ultra sonic humidifier inside. This has so far gave me 100% plant survival. I've since taken this setup down.

I've been trying to root muntingia cuttings and have had no success to date. Instead of screwing around with the humidier, I'll setup something like what you have...maybe even trying some of my other plants too.

Do you use a heating mat under the cuttings? Thanks for the tip Joe. J
