Nice load of fruit? Not my tree but wish it was. This guy is selling 24-30 satsumas for $4. Even more impressive is that this tree survived a 10 foot saltwater storm surge and 130mph winds last year courtesy of hurricane Rita. The catch is that he is 40 miles from me at Sabine Pass on the Gulf coast. I've bought 3 bushels from another friend for $18 a bushel. A bushel is about 70 pounds of fruit. My friend went to a flea market about a month ago and sold a pickup load of satsumas at $3 for a 5 pound mesh bag. He sold out just after lunch. My oldest satsuma tree is 6 years old. The trees are still producing mostly puffy not very good fruit. Mandarin trees produce puffy, not very good fruit here until they get old enough. Apparently 6 years is not old enough. The fruit near the ground is good though. My other large citrus trees, golden grapefruit, wekiwa tangelo, ujukitsu sweet lemon and marrs sweet orange are producing very good fruit. My three year old clementine, fairchild mandarin, and page mandarin produced some fruit but not yet better than the supermarket kind.
