Thanks for the comments/photos all(sorry for the late reply I just finished exams for my undergraduate degree).

To clarify, Patty in your 3rd photo. Are winged petioles what I see on the leaf?

Actually, you can see the wing on the petiole, but it is very, very tiny. If you look at a grapefruit leaf, you can see a better example of a winged petiole (one way to tell if the tree is a grapefruit tree, plus the leaves are very large):

You can see the winged petiole pretty clearly on one of the leaves of my Oro Blanco grapefruit here in this photo.
