To round out my West Coast to East Coast Nursery tours I finally made it to South Florida to hit Pine Island Nursery, Excalibur Fruit Tree Nursery, Robert is Here Fruit Stand, and the Fruit and Spice Park.

First stop was Robert is Here Fruit Stand where all kinds of rare fruit is for sale. I stocked up on some Ciruelas, Apple Banana, Guayabana , lychees, and canistel.

Next was Excalibur Fruit Tree Nursery. They have a lot of rare fruit trees for sale and one tree that I was wanting to see was actually a citrus tree. They are the only ones that I know that have the Red Lime. There were fruits on their trees but were just starting to color.

The Fruit and Spice Park is the place to see for those who are into fruit trees. Here you can see all kinds of mature fruit tree plantings and even taste the fruit (if it is on the ground) and keep the seeds. I met up with Ohiojay, and a few others from the Tropical Fruit Forum (Plummy, Eldys, and Lycheeluva). It was blazing hot but lots of fun.

The day that we went there were many local vendors there with plants and fruits for sale.

I have bought many trees by mail through Pine Island Nursery and was curious to see it in person. This nursery was very organized and had great plant stock. I couldn't leave without buying another Santol, Caimito and Wax Jambu.

Nice Pics. Are all of these places in the keys? Or are they in/near Miami?

I've been going to Robert Is Here for around 40 years -- a great place for unusual fruits! It's on the road to Everglades National Park, just SW of Florida City.

I went to visit Excaliber yesterday. They are indeed a great place for tropical fruit trees. I picked up a three gallon Gefner atemoya and a three gallon Thai sugar apple. It was a nice visit. I hope to go back when I've got more money to spend.
