Take a look at this advert from a usually reputable UK company
http://www.suttons.co.uk/Gardening/Fruit/Fruit+Trees/Citrus+Trees/Citrus+Tree+-+Red+Lime_241035.htm
Looks to me like the Australian Blood Lime - but it says native S.E. Asia.
What do you think?

I've emailed Suttons to see what they say!

The photo looks to be Blood limes, but what they may have is the red lemon that has been circulating in Europe the last few years. It was also called a lime at one point.

If I remember correctly, Sylvain said they were very nasty tasting. Laughing

Seems unlikely that the red lemon would be native S.E. Asia. I think it's just a mistake on the Suttons web site...

Foliage in sutton's photo looks small enough to be microcitrus hybrid, decription is of sweet/palestine lime.

Think there is a red fruited form of sweet lime perhaps someone could confirm and put up photo for comparison.

You could argue that the eremocitrus/microcitrus species actually originated in PNG and merely migrated to Australia.

The photo being used by suttons is identical to that in use in australia and description is variant of that attached to the aussie photos.

Looks more and more to fit with blood lime.

Problem is different sites give different citrus parent - mandarin or rangpur. Which is it?

Mike

Cross common nursery list red lime as being a form of rangpur.

No photo so cannot tell if is same as the plant on sale by suttons.

Ordered a plant from suttons on spec, interesting whether it is rangpur or the microcitrus rangpur hybrid.

If you get an answer from suttons as to what it is pm me, would also be intetested what if any rootstock it's on if any as suttons list it as hardy (-5*c hardy ???).

Laaz

Do you have photo/description so can compare when plant arrives from suttons.

Cross common are one of the few citrus suppliers in uk and it is possible suttons plants come from them. Don't think siuutons will be growing/propagating the red lime themselves but rather just buying in for resale.

If thats the case doubt mike will get any answers out of suttons as to plants identity.

The photos I posted above are the Ranpur.

This is the Australian blood lime, much smaller.

Thanks laaz

Cross common are/have been selling c. X limonia rosso on amazon with photo.

This may suggest that red lime is different no photo on their website for this rangpur form.

Won't get near to id until have plant in front of us.
