I was cruising around the forum and saw a picture of a Flying Dragon. It looked exactly like what we call a Native Citrus. What I call a Native Citrus grows all over this farm that I hunt on in north central Mississippi. The owner said when it was a dairy farm they use to plant these on the fence lines. I have havested lots of the fruit and dried them and added them to my wife potpourri bowls. Does anyone else on here know what the "Native Citrus " in that area is and is it related to the Flying Dragon? I google it and the pictures look exactly like the plants on this farm. I will take some pictures next time I am up there and post them up.

BTW: Enjoy this forum a lot especially the grafting tutorials.

It almost certainly is Trifoliate Orange (Poncirus trifoliata), which is native to China and considered invasive in the south. Flying Dragon is a specific, dwarf variety of Trifoliate Orange.

Yes that is it. Can this be used as a root stock like the flying dragon?

John Panzarella has been cleft grafting trifoliate seedlings for years he pulls up on some property north of Houston in New Caney. His 10 acres is a tangle of trifoliate orange gone native.
