One last comment. A problem that might be worse that adding amendments, is if you dug a hole a lot wider and deeper than the tree's root ball. This causes the tree's root system to set in a "lake" of water. Hopefully, you dug a hole just about the same size as the root ball. However, if your soil is as sandy and well drained as you say, you might not have any problem from either the peatmoss or the size of the planting hole. Since I gave a lecture on fertilizer to a garden club and I
have answered similar questions for my friends, I thought
that I should jump in and give my advice. Before I even read
dgs's question, JoeReal, Millet, and Skeeter answered it
even better than I could have. We all should be grateful
for their prompt, accurate and frequent replies to our
questions on this citrus forum.

I sincerely thank you all very much.
