I've kinda been discussing a rooting substance with another member... curious on its use with citrus. Its a gel medium with a rooting hormone in it. No need for watering or anything. Does this sound like something that would work for citrus well? I like the sound of it... just the no watering and the biggest bonus being able to SE when the roots form.

Any opinons? Want to be sure before I head out and buy a ton. any thoughts on the pros and cons and if anyone has used it?

i have no idea, but no one else has posted Razz

I figure you still have to do a mist-tent, humidity dome, or something.

Since citrus roots like to breathe, it doesnt sound like the best thing, but I dont know if it would work. Things like Wandering Jew and Spider plants root in water, they sound like the best for this treatment.

What plants is it advertised to be good for? Website?

I have used the Gel packs a few times when available. They worked great on a Etrog & Buddhas Hand. These were sent to me to try. I can't find a store that stocks them though...

walmart carries them, weird little packs, fully reusable. looking up online they do say there is X ammount of oxygen avaliable to the roots even in the gel. the ammount varries on the type of gel used.

walmart in the states carries a powder you add to water to form the gel the thickness you want.

also check florrist shopps... a lot are starting to use it in place of water as it keeps plants fresher longer

Laaz, so, if it worked on those 2... do you think it'd be o with lemons, limes oranges... grapefruits... whatever I end up getting my hands on?
