I just bought a dwarf Improved Meyer Lemon and Oro Blanco Grapefruit at Armstrong's that were from Durling Nursery.

Can anyone comment on how big these will get? I don't know what root stock they are on and I have not been able to find a website for Durling. I've seen "ultra dwarf", "dwarf", and "semi dwarf" trees described and want to know where these from Durling will stack up.

The Oro Blanco is about four feet tall in a 5 gallon pot and has seven nice sized fruit on them. The Meyer is about three feet tall with no fruit or flowers yet.

Hi Hilltop,
I have several trees from Durling that I purchased from Armstrong Nursery. I had the same question and ended up calling Durling directly to ask them what rootstock their "ultradwarf" and "dwarf" varieties were grafted onto. Their answer was that Ultradwarf was on Flying Dragon Trifoliate and their dwarf was on regular trifoliate.

Thanks dauben. I like the trees and they look really nice. It sucks that they don't include more info on their labels. All it has is their name.

Yep. The green tag for ultradwarf and orange for dwarf (assming they haven't changed). I'm guessing 99% of their customers don't care about the rootstock. 'Just nuts like us. Smile

I'm jealous. I haven't seen anything on Flying Dragon around here. I do remember thinking Armstrong was a great nursery when I lived down there eons ago (along with Roger's Gardens), and now I have another reason to believe that.
