Want to buy small Bream Tarocco blood orange tree. Live near Palm Spring, CA. Why this is such a hard tree to find is beyond me. Mike |

I wonder what kind of tarocco is sold by 4 winds. The UCR website lists about three different varieties.

Because you live in California, by law you can only purchase a citrus tree from a supplier within the state of California. This, of course greatly limits your oportunities. As Brettay wrote, 4 Winds Growers sells a Tarocco, in fact I have their Tarocco variety in my collection. They supply a very nice quality tree. It may be, and it may not be, the Bream variety. Telephone them and ask what variety of Tarocco they are offering. All three Tarocco varieties have similar characters. You might have no other choice open to you but the tree supplied by Four Winds Growers. - Millet |

I believe Clausen's Nursery in Vista has the Bream Tarocco. You can call them and ask them what variety of Tarocco they bud up. Also, you can check with Armstrong Nursery, to see what variety Tarocco they carry. If they don't know, they will usually call their supplier to see for you. Also, check with Willits & Newcomb up in Bakersfield. They supply Costcos, and I'm pretty sure they use Bream Tarocco budwood for their Taroccos. Or, if you can graft, you can purchase budwood for the Bream Tarocco from the CCPP. _________________ Patty S.

I wouldn't be surprised if the four winds variety of Tarocco is Bream. I have it and the fruit is very well pigmented. This is it in early January, I had some hang until a week or two ago and those where even darker. I think its Bream.

Well Laaz, that's the most intense example you will ever see of a bream, grown in an ideal coloring climate, probably harvested in May or something. |

But you still need a certain number of cool nights to develop color; is that still correct for Bream? _________________
