I harvested one of my 3 Ruby Red grapfruit yesterday-- it was definitely good. I also picked one of my 3 Ponkans and compared it to one of my sister's satsumas (that are in their prime now)--I like the Ponkan best.
I picked my last limequat (don't know the actual variety) and had it in a Corona-- that is probably the best use for them in my book!

I have been picking Miewa kumquats from both my tree and my sister's tree. I don't know what causes the difference, but the Miewas from my tree range from very solid orange to solid green, while the ones on Vicki's tree are uniformly pale orange (mine are sweeter). I also picked a few Nagami kumquats from my father-in-laws trees yesterday--everybody that tried them liked the Miewas better. I love that lemon pie we make from the recipe I posted the other day.

It is really nice to have fresh citrus from your back yard! I am looking forward to a ever increasing variety and quantity thanks to what I have learned from all of you (especially Joe's grafting tutorial!).

How big was your Ruby Red. My Rio Red is about the size of a softball which seems a little small. The other fruit (3) are about the size of oranges and are not ripe yet. The ripe Rio is just about all yellow. This is my first harvest for this tree. Since these trees are grown in pots is this about the right size? The tree is now covered in buds which will not bloom probably for several weeks yet. A SNOWY CITRUS GROWER! (We are due another 4 -8" tonight) Shocked
