Going to the Nursery today. What is the prefect potting mix I should pick up? Mix ratio's? I built a sun room on the front of my house this last year. And finally got it done. Pictures soon. I found this site after spending some time at other web sites. I have found some rather serious growers here. I'm a sponge right now. And of course I want the best looking and healthy plants that I can be proud of. I have harvested several limes for my margarita's. I'm having fun at this. You will see me around. Glad I found this site. Update- OK I found pine bark and perlite mix is a good start for potting Galen

Welcome to the forum. Yes, pine bark is what I use for my container trees. I mix a little peat moss with my pine bark for moisture retention, but perlite will probably work as well.

I would prefer a bark and peat moss blend, over bark and perlite. A good mix would be 3 or 4 parts bark chips to 1 part peat moss, or 3 parts bark chips, 1 part peat moss and 1 part coarse sand. - Millet

Just got back from the hospital. I'm a grandfather again! And I haven't had time to make it to the nursery so I'll get the bark, sand, and peat moss Millet. Got some things I'm going to try. I'm embarrassed to say yet cause I'm probably going to screw up. What the heck. Got this Olinda orange tree that has a sucker limb that I'd like to cut off. Its got huge leaves on it. Bigger than anywhere else on the tree. I'm thinking, why toss it? Was going to see if I could root the cutting. The tree is blooming right now. I've had it since April of this year. Bought it at a hardware store! It looked bad. All summer nothing, not a new limb or leaf. But all of a sudden, this limb came out over night and is now about two feet long and now the tree is covered in blossoms. And pea sized oranges.
