Several big still- green Meyer lemon on a low growing tree...I found one on ground without a bite taken. It's 2 inches diam & ready to turn color. Will it ripen anymore sitting on my counter? It'll be my first one Crying or Very sad

Also think the same squirrell climbed my Brug tree & broke a branch off above the Y with 6-7 flower buds & one in full bloom. Knocked pot over too. I can't find the branch anywhere or I could root it as a cutting. I hope he ate the flower & dies as they are poison!
Ned, I put some caster bean seeds on deck & there are a few missing Laughing (your idea Idea )

Well, sorry to hear that, I finally got the better of them with a spray called "Deer Away", but my group is small compared to what you have Patty. They are so destructive, can't understand why they are protected!!! Mad

whaaaaaat? Squirrells are protected? From what? As far as I know, they are of no use for the biological chain. What does a squirrell eat to our advantage? We have no hawks around here to eat them. They just keep breeding & eating our food.
Anyone know what POSSIBLE advantage there is to having squirrells around??

If the squirrel didn't do it, the huge raccoon I saw last night did. I heard my scarecrow go off (motion detector sprinkler) & looked out & there he was looking at me & then went the other way. That scarecrow works great!
I never saw a raccoon that big.

Bushy tail rats!

The best way I have found to reduce their population is trapping, but then you have to take them far away or kill them. I have removed over 50 in a year.

Hawks weren't much help here before Ivan, but after Ivan took down a lot of trees and opened up the canopy the hawks have kept them down.

Reasons for squirrels is that some time they forget where they buried there nuts and then some of the unearthed nits germinate into trees. Which is probably the most effective natural way that nut tree grow.

These squirrels aren't looking for nuts. They are climbing up & eating my flowers!
On my way to bury this SQUIRREL'S NUTS!
