HI ALL My Mentor in Pixiebobs has a Very Rare plant( tree)

the Antartic Beech. Also known as the Nothofagus antarctica:

she wants to propagate this tree. i was thinking air Layering but in all honesty I want her to be Succsessfull. Please all advice and info will be sent to her this tree is so Rare its not even found where they Plant Originated from due to Growing populations in the region. Tammy

Westwood, I am not familiar with this particular cultivar of Beech tree. However, in the genus Fugus (Beech), improved cultivars are grafted, usually by the cleft graft method, on seedlings of the same species. For unknown varieties, or not named varieties, the easiest way to start them is from seeds planted in the fall. Seeds saved for spring should be stratified for three months at 40 degrees F., and not allowed to dry out. The trees should be planted in their permanent location at an early age, before they develop their long taproot which makes digging and moving so difficult and also gives the transplant a better chance of survival .- Millet

I know nothing about the tree but it is listed in The Horticultural Society A-Z Encyclopedia of Garden Plants. They have a little paragraph on propagating it there. A search on the internet yeilds a lot of hits, I am not sure it is all that rare.
