Is there any reason why love bugs would constantly hang out around my citrus trees? They are constantly crawling around the leaves. I haven’t sprayed in a while except for spinsosad and oil and yet they die and pile up at the base of the trees. So many that the ground is noticeably black with their bodies.
I can’t find a reason for their attraction to citrus and I do not see them on other trees. Also I have not seen anything on the net that indicates that they are anything other than beneficial. I just find it curious that they are attracted to the citrus. Have you noticed this and is there a reason for it?
Thanks Karl

Just a guess, but I wonder if they are not being attracted by pheromones emmitted by the first ones there, then more bugs more pheromone. I have seen accumulation on several different kinds of plants-- so I don't think it is actually the plant.

Anyway--you are just getting some free fertilizer-- organic to boot!
