Chayote (Sechium edule) is the new plant for me:
Sticks and wires are my (somewhat desperate) attempt to keep dog, moles etc. out of it.
Any experiance/suggestion/tip about growing that plant to share?

I started one last year. It's a spiny chayote. I found it in a local Mexican store and couldn't resist planting it.
It grew about 10ft. long. Then I accidentally broke off the vine. It's growing back nicely.

I've grown many, over the years. Easy to grow, culture just like pumpkins or squash. One annoying aspect, though, in areas that get early autumn frosts, is that they flower only as the days get shorter, and sometimes there is not enough time to get the fruit matured before they freeze. Here in Florida, harvest is usually late November through December.
