Last Saturday I went to Pewaukee (20 miles west of MKE) for a graduation party. Rain forced everyone inside after couple hours. I NEVER saw it rain like that! Heavy rain non stop for at least 2 hours & with golf ball size hail. Neighbors yards looked like small lakes. The culverts had rushing water w/ white caps. Next day, my fiance' asked if I knew of Lake Delton near the Dells. I said of course, and he said it isn't there anymore.
A dam broke and all the water went into Wisconsin river along with 3 new houses! It made national news, so maybe you saw it?
They also showed a flooded street in Pewaukee with a school of about 70 big fish (salmon or trout) swimming in the street. Some were getting sucked down the sewer drain. People came by with buckets & took some fish. I couldn't believe it!
We just had a storm go threw again with 3 more on the way. Sirens were on for tornados twice today. winds were 60 mph & 2 semis just blew over on the freeway. That road is closed. News just said their photographer's contac lenses blew out as he was trying to take pics of it. Sorry, but I had to laugh at that one.
Tonight they say the biggest storm is yet to come.
Sunday we took a ride & most farm land is a big pool. I saw cows in water over their knees. Poor farmers lost a lot of crop. A couple towns were closed...people evacuated. We don't need any more rain!
Mother Nature is really P.O.'d
I am lucky to live on higher ground & my new sump pump is working fine.
And, I have a thick brick walled basement to go to for shelter if needed.
