Since nobody has posted in the cycad section in a couple years I'll post here.

Someone hacked this sago with a trunk about 12 inches:

I've successfully rooted sago puppies. I've read that just a chunk of a sago will root. Anyone tried rooting chunks like these?

BTW I did rescue one 3 foot trunk sago that hadn't been cut at the same neighbor's curbside this morning on trash day. Big ones like this don't last long before pickup by landscapers or gleeners like me. They take about 15 years to grow that big. My neighborhood is a coming and going one and I figure some northerner probably didn't like these old sagos. I have to say, they are kind of stickery.

I've been gleening sagos since the ones the landscapers planted at my new house are infested with the Florida white scale that is so hard to get rid of. http://polkmastergardener.ifas.ufl.edu/hot_topics/sago_palm_white_stuff.shtml
