Hello Everyone....
I bought at my local nursery two 5 gallon
Calamodian oranges , I would love to Bonsai one,
would this kill the plant ? Both are growing beautifully
what is your advice ?

It can be done. I used to have a variegated calamondin which grew only 2 inches for 5 years, the height was just kept at 10" and in 1 gallon pot size. I kept it potted for 5 years. It bears fruit almost year round, but never grew big. I gave it away to a friend who promptly planted it in the ground, then it grew big very quickly. It is still dwarf compared to other citruses, just about 5' tall after 5 more years.

Bonsai Citrus can be done. Do it simply as with all other bonais: Plant in shallow containers, prune the twigs and wrap the tree twigs with the bonsai wires, do regulary root prunings and do everything as with other bonsai, and your citrus will follow....
But be carefull, those cultural practise will lead more often to proplems, the plants act more tender to evironmental or cultural problems.....
So a high experience in growin bosais seems to be required, because citrus is considered a difficult bonsai type.
