That's odd. On this Spring's (2008) budwood order form USDA 88-2 is listed, as a cross of Lee X Nova, so presumably it is released now. I don't know anything else about it.

I have 88-2, 88-3 that have sprouted from my last summer's CCPP budwood orders. They should have similar or some common parentage as Tango and Gold Nugget.

I have a Gold Nugget. I assume the fruit will have a similar taste. Did you get a chance to taste the fruit before you ordered budwood last summer?
