This seemed like a concise and interesting paper on the flowering behavior of citrus:

Some of what's covered is pretty much intuitive - e.g. leaving fruit on the tree at or past fruit maturity tends to decrease flower production the following year. But I found some parts - particularly the effects of temperature and season (it would be interesting to see if these have been separated to differentiate the effects of temperature and photoperiod, say) on the productivity of buds and the type of growth displayed by the buds very interesting (although see the note by the author regarding the possibility of varying depths of bud dormancy among bud types) . Again, it makes some intuitive sense, but it is nice to have all laid out and supported by some numbers.
