Did you know there is a way of getting your computer to write the correct botanical symbol for a hybrid?
You can produce a slightly raised x-sign, the same as a mathematical multiplication sign, as shown below:
Citrus ×virgata (instead of Citrus xvirgata)

To type it press down and hold Alt-key,
type 0215 on the numeric keypad with
Num lock on, release Alt-key.
(I don't think it's possible to make it display in bold)

So, from now on, no more xxxx!

Wow as easily and quickly as that? And here I was pressing the x key like a sucker Laughing

One question I've always had about citrus hybrids is how to name them correctly. Does the seed parent go first before the x?

When you make a new name for the variety by mixing the parent names, how is that done? For example the citrange, the 'cit' is from poncirus and the 'ange' from orange. Does cit go first because the poncirus was the seed parent? If the orange was the seed parent would it be called orancirus?

For Linux users it is: Alt Gr + shift + "."
