Benny, sure... Plums can be dormant grafted as well as apples, pears...

If the barks are not slipping on the plums, like very difficult to open up, just do tongue and whip or cleft grafting but not bark grafting.

Don't touch the persimmons until you see some green leaf.

K Thanks again.
I am going to do with my plums the same way what you did with your persimmons. And wiith my persimmons.
Graft them at the top of the tree. That way they can get the sun rays better. And last years ' branches are plelntiful there. And perhaps the tree will not grow too much in height because I will be cutting the ones that sticks upward.
The tempt now is ideal 40 lows and 60 high.
I can't wait till I graft the persimmons.

Joe:
I just followed what you told me.

Here's a sample of my green gage I grafted to my santa rosa plum on Jan 29 2007.
I was surprised how fast they grew.
When I grafted them all were dormant.
I could see the otherplums that we got from the scion exchange at varying size of growth.
I will have all kinds of varieties of plums in that tree I tell you!

I also started doing bark graft to my fuyu pesimmons of different kinds of persimmons. I'd try a few just in case it take but I'd keep on grafting a few until the new buds come out.
