I’m going to receive the fruit of Citrus Junos (Yuzu) from Nikitskiy Botanical Garden
(NBG) in Crimea this autumn.
There are 6 trees growing there. They are about 8 meters high ant more
than 50 years old,
and they have survived in the frosts of-15C.
There, near the NBG, a hybrid of Mandarin Miyagawa and Citrus
Junos, of the NBG breeding, grows and bears.
I propose to call it Miyuz (as Clem-Yuz).
This tree has a sour-sweet fruit with a large number of seeds,
but juicy, like tangerines.
This characteristic feature of the taste of Yuzu rind and pulp
is present in hybrid fruit,
but somewhat less pronounced. I hope to get the fruit of the
hybrid too.
As far as possible, I don’t not know yet, because the land on
which the hybrid matrix tree grows
used to belong to the NBG, and then it was transfered to
private ownership.
I have hybrid Miyuz and Yuzu plants. They are from rooted
cuttings
of fruit-bearing trees in open ground.
If sending of fruit and cuttings by post is possible, I guess,
in November I will be able to do it.
If sending of cuttings by post to the United States is
prohibited, I can make the treatment from diseases and try to hand the
cuttings over with friends flying to the U.S. on business or to their
relatives.
Then they will send the cuttings by mail, when they are already
in the United States. In this case, the money from you are not
requisite.
