Is there much fruit quality difference between Late Valencia and Orlinda Valencia oranges? I obtained a lot of scion wood from my local agriculture station, and want to grow more of the best variety. I'll some of both, but want to grow more of the generally preferred varieity.

Also, on Tangelos, I have scion wood for Orlando variety and also Miniola. Which is preferred?

Is there a website that compares the varieties? I've only found descriptions of each, but no comparisons.

Thanks,
John

I don't grow Valencia so I can't offer any help. However for Tangelos, personally I much prefer Miniola. - Millet 100

Millet, why do you prefer the Miniola? What characteristics make it better in our opinion?

Minneola is much more flavorful than orlando. Both are good. This would be for fruit grown in USA Gulf Coast or Florida.

Can't comment on fruit grown in California as the fruit in the grocery from there are always picked immature and are tasteless.

Who knows in Fiji! Location can make a big difference in taste. In a tropical place like Fiji I wouldn't expect to get much orange color I hear.

John, Mr. Texas said it for me. Miniola has a much better taste (at least I think so). Millet - 98

Thanks for your preferences. I grafted some extra Miniola.

I cleft-grafted 90 rootstock seedlings this weekend. I'll do a few more today, including a cocktail tree. I plan to have them in the ground around year-end.
