The tree is at least 10ft tall. I topworked a sour orange tree(i think that's what it was) about 3 years or so ago. The largest fruits don't seem that large but they weigh about 2 1/2 lbs. Is that good?

thanks millet. The friends neighbor house actually had 3 seedling trees going. This was the best tasting of the three. I never thought I'll be able to grow a good tasting pummelo but I like this fruit very much. I am planning on topworking my keiffer lime now.

How is Hirado Butan in terms of taste and texture? Can you recommend other varieties of pummelo? It would be nice to extend the season with other types. I would prefer varieties with very little to no bitterness on the rind and a texture that's on the firm side, juicy, but does not leak when cut into. Thanks.

Hirado Butan is very sweet, not as much juice as grapefruit and a nice pink flesh. Also the most cold hardy of the bunch.

thanks Laaz. Seems like an interesting culivar, I'll look for sources of it when spring comes.

Hirado Buntan is currently not available from budwood screenhouses of UCR CCPP. But I can wait. I didn't know it is cold hardy. My Mato Buntan is really cold hardy. That is one of the branches that was left unprotected due to lack of frost row cover material, and so is very much exposed, and yet did not have any damage during the arctic blast early this year.
