I've tried all the ones I could get and grow. The eustis and lakeland have produced fruit the size of kumquats with a weak lime flavor. A forum member sent me 20 pounds of tavares limequats last fall. They are much bigger, maybe 3-4 inches long and the size and shape of indio mandarinquat but yellow instead of orange. I like the flavor of the tavares but it tastes neither like kumquat or lime. I liked the marmalade I made as well although not as much as changshou kumquat marmalade.

I've budded a branch or two to tavares but I wouldn't want a whole tree. I hear the trees are highly productive. I think the tavares would make a good lemon substitute in my changshou kumquat marmalade. I liked the limeade it makes as well.

Anyone else have anything to say about limequats?

I had both a Eustis and a Lakeland tree a couple years ago. They made a really great addition to the compost pile. - Millet (489-)
