I frequently use the plant files at davesgarden-but was suprised to see that there are a number of citrus varieties that they lack in their database- I recently added Nippon Orangequat http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/166448/
You too may want to add plant descriptions, update them, upload photos etc...

I have a database of descriptions of all of my fruiting cultivars. It is too tiresome to manually cut and paste the info. I wish they have an import or upload option with a given file format and I would upload them in a jiffy. Most descriptions from Davesgarden has not helped me at all. The very important stuff like chilling hours, suitable pollinators, harvest dates, bloom dates, how good keeping are the fruits on the tree, various susceptibility scores to various diseases are hard to come by.

Hey Joe,
For ornamental plants davesgarden has become a widely used site-they do need help with fruit crops for sure. You could add comments on chilling hours, suitable pollinators, harvest dates, bloom dates, how good keeping are the fruits on the tree, various susceptibility scores to various diseases under the heading "Other details:" on their pages.Any info that you could give could potentially help-and you have loads of valuable descriptions that could benefit users of this site.

I have used DavesGarden site a lot when evaluating sellers or suppliers. It's excellent. Yes the ornamental sections are good compared to others. It is just that if you are a fruit grower, there is not much info that I can add to what I have compiled. I would place the info but typing one box by one box at a time, I'm not patient for that.

Harvest dates and bloom dates, will change depending where the trees are growing.

That is true-so it would be good to reference data for a location-for example- "blooms late March/Early April, fruit mature November-January in lower Rio Grande Valley Texas" Very Happy
