Since we have a very mild winter up to now, I decided to put my sanguinelli tree back outside. The idea is to get some blood coloration in the fruits, something I haven't been able to obtain in the previous years. Temperature is supposed to go down slowly towards the end of the week. I hope it will get cold enough to initiate the blood coloration...

Not much news around here. Since we don't have a real winter I decided to plant one of my larger seville seedlings in ground in the yard! We'll see how this turns out...

In the mean time the striped meyer hybrid is starting to grow. Let's hope it will also produce some flowers! Very Happy

The three plants I got from Tintori are really doing great! The striped meyer hybrid is growing nicely, but unfortunately no flowers are coming yet. The tarocco Tapi has already flowered and is setting some fruit already. The Sfusato Amalfitano lemon is unbelievable! It's not really growing but it has been flowering all winter and is still producing flowers! Some fruits are already growing also!

New growth on meyer hybrid:

A couple of Tarocco Tapi fruitlets...

Sfusato Amalfitano lemon:
I'm expecting a lot from that plant! Smile

I'm planning on putting a number of plants outside this weekend. Night temperatures are still near freezing but daytime temps are predicted to reach 20°C/68°F. Should be OK for most citrus I guess, and ideal for coloring up blood oranges!

OK, let's bring this forum back to life, shall we? Very Happy

No news on the striped meyer hybrid, other than that it is growing nicely. No flowers yet though.

On the other hand, my flying dragon is flowering for the very first time this spring. I have seen a couple of flowers in the past years but this time it's really filled with flowers! Very Happy

And something else I'm very happy with... I picked one of the oranges of my spanish sanguinelli tree. I intentionally put that tree outside in the cold to get some blood coloration in the fruit, and guess what... it worked! Very Happy It's only a very little bit in the flesh. Peel isn't colored at all. Knowing that spanish sanguinelli oranges usually have a lot of pigmentation, I wonder what else I have to do to get that. But for now I'm happy! Wink

Picked the remaining 2 sanguinelli oranges today. They're really small but they are true blood oranges! Very Happy Taste was good...

Nice pigmentation Marc. Smile Seems like taking it outdoors in cold temperatures worked quite well for you. Speaking of pigmented varieties, I noticed quite a few shoots on my mandared, but can't see any flowers forming yet... Rolling Eyes Being a cross between nules and tarocco orange, I'd expect it to grow some flowers on its old wood, before putting out new shoots, which doesn't seem to the case here. How about yours?

Well, in fact not much is happening here. Currently the only plant with fruit producing flowers is the amalfi lemon. Plants that have always flowered in the past years, like the sanguinelli or the bergamot, are now just sitting there doing nothing. Most of my plants are outside since February and have experienced some cold. Maybe the warm and sunny spring weather we are getting now will trigger new growth and - hopefully - flowers... Smile
