Less than one half of one percent of Americans have run a marathon. - Millet

That is about one of 200 people have run the marathon That is close to 2 million people! That's a lot.

I'm not one of them. But all of my kids did run in at east one marathon event.

During my days at UCLA, I've bike the distance of 4 X Marathon in one morning. Does that count? Did it many times with group of friends. West L.A. to Santa Barbara via PCH on a nice Saturday morning. Those were the days.

I get tired easily in a running motion, but cycling (road and mountain biking) is a different ballgame for me.

As the author of this post, Riding a bike 4 X the distance of a marathon has to count. I would think riding the PCH would be somewhat dangerous. - Millet

You are right. It can be dangerous riding on Pacific Coast Highway. Around traffic areas and near Pepperdine/Malibu, where there are rock slides and the rocks spew onto PCH/shoulder, it forces the biker to briefly go out from the bike lane and around the rocks/barriers. I've heard of several riders getting hit by cars from behind. One rider from a local cycling club was killed.

Traveling in a group (you're more visible) and riding single file is pretty safe. Obeying the law of the road too.

Well, that was during my younger college years when I had more courage. Riding my bike from Westwood to Pepperdine on a Saturday morning, having an overpriced coffee and scone at Starbucks in Malibu, and riding back to my apartment again. The ocean view was great on sunny days. Mountain biking in the Santa Monica Mountains/canyons was nice too.

Now I'm older and wiser...

...I don't go to Starbucks anymore for their pathetic coffee. LOL!

I have been to a Starbucks only one time in my life, which was several years back. I ordered a cup of regular plain black coffee and paid way to much. - Milet
